  First, please note that Dr. Beck and the front office staff are amazing and this review should not be perceived as a negative towards them. HOWEVER, I WOULD STRONGLY DISCOURAGE ANYONE FROM ENTRUSTING THEIR PET WITH DR. DICKENS OR VET TECH RENEE. I dropped my 5 year old Maltese off to have his teeth cleaned. I requested a follow up during the procedure and was denied- that should have been a warning to leave immediately. I was contacted when the procedure was completed and informed my dog was "resting peacefully". When I arrived at the clinic to retrieve my dog, the receptionist informed me Dr. Dickens and Vet tech Renee removed 17 teeth. THIS WAS WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I was further informed that he had 12 "loose" teeth and these were all pulled as a "preventative measure" as these teeth would eventually "fall out with the potential of infection". Again, NEVER was my consent obtained to remove "loose" teeth. Neither Dr Dickens nor the vet tech Renee apologized or accepted accountability or responsibility for the error, but continued to state "he will be happier". The clinic has accepted no responsibility regarding this error either. DO NOT ALLOW DR DICKENS OR VET TECH RENEE ANY ACCESS TO YOUR PETS!

  I've entrusted Ocotillo Animal Clinic with the care of my pets since moving to that area in 2003. I adopted a boisterous Shepherd/Heeler puppy that year, and Bridget got years of great, compassionate care at Ocotillo, from routine "maintenance" through a bout of Valley fever. The doctors and staff have always been kind, efficient and competent, never suggesting "over-treatment" or unnecessary tests. And when the time came to say goodbye to my best friend earlier this year (2017), they all stepped up and treated us with genuine love and compassion. I can't overstate my appreciation for that. One positive aspect of this practice is staff stability. There are several folks who have worked at the clinic since I've been going there, and that speaks to a good work environment and the resulting dedication of employees. As a former Federal manager, I recognize good morale when I see it, and it shows in the performance of the staff here. I recently adopted another rescue mutt, and I wouldn't consider any other veterinary practice for Scout's care, even though I now live in Tempe. I trust the vets and staff to make the right calls regarding her care, and have recommended Ocotillo to many friends. Many thanks for all the good care you provide.
